How To Overcome Fear......Then Move To Faith
The purpose of this website is to help you overcome fear and move on to Faith. If you are a follower of Jesus, who has or is battling fear, this site is for you. This includes not only fear that may cause you to want to cower in a corner, but also fear that simply holds you back. Holding you back from new things you want to experience, a better relationship, seeking a new job, investing, starting a new business, fulfilling God's calling on your life, or pursuing something you are passionate about.
This site is intended to be a resource, that you'll come back to time and again. Information will continually be added to help guide you from whatever fear is holding you back into a walk of greater faith.
The specific things fear may hold you back from pursuing don't matter. The roots of fear are the same. They are the same whether one is pursuing or wanting to improve a relationship, fulfilling a call God has on your life, if you're in sales or if you're the CEO of a company. The roots of fear and the principles of faith are the same. Both, will be covered on this site.
I still battle with fear wanting to rear its' ugly head at times. We all battle that. But, I've learned how to overcome fear. I'll share how on this website. By overcoming fear, I was able to make it through a painful divorce and follow God's call to move to a new city after living in the one I was moving from for 27 years.
But It Wasn't Always So!
Let the story below share some of my past with fear.
The day was bright and sunny. Many families were all around. The smell of hot dogs, hamburgers and pretzels were in the air. And the feeling of anticipation welled up deep within me.
Then, I looked. There she was. Dressed in blue. She was standing in front me. Majestic. Glistening in the sun. Oh what beauty.
Millennium Force. 308 feet and 94 meters of blue painted steel. I had read about her and seen pictures of her. But now, there she was. Standing in front of me. It was like she was calling my name.
Earlier in the day, at Cedar Point theme park, I and my daughters had ridden the second largest coaster at the time, Magnum XL-200. 205 feet/62 m tall, 72 mph/116 km/hr. She was dressed in red. My heart was racing by the time we reached the top of the first big hill on that coaster. As we arrived at the top of the hill, a seagull flew at eye level right in front of us.
Instead of just telling you, check out the video below for a taste of what I experienced.

We finished riding Magnum XL and headed for her.....Millenium Force. She was a very large and fast coaster too.. Thousands were drawn to her every season. I had read about her. I had also ridden many coasters before. She was the one I wanted to conquer.
The line was long enough where people were waiting for an hour or two for a two minute ride. The anticipation for this coaster was tremendous. Let Millenium Force share her story.
The line was long enough where people were waiting for an hour or two for a two minute ride. The anticipation for this coaster was tremendous. Let Millenium Force share her story.
We stood in line for about 30 minutes. The coaster could be seen from the line. I would look up at the first big hill, which was a 300 foot (91m) drop. The drop for Magnum XL was 194.7 feet (59.3 m). Millenium Force was only 105 feet (32m) taller. She was 21 mph (34 km/hr) faster. They were both two very beautiful, large and fast coasters. A roller coaster enthusiasts dream.
We waited in line a little longer. We were edging closer to the coaster. The heat of the day was hotter as we stood in line. Anticipation was growing.
Then...it happened. This has never happened to me before with coasters. As I was standing in line looking at the coaster and edging ever closer, my heart raced faster. I kept looking up at the height of that coaster. I kept watching the cars race down that first, big hill of 310 feet.
Finally...the unthinkable happened. Not to my daughter. It happened to me. As my heart raced...as I continued to look up at the coaster. Keep in mind, I was a grown man. I had ridden many coasters before. Coasters that were fast and did inverted loops where the cars were upside down. I even rode the Great Bear at Hershey Park in Pennsylvania, where the cars hung from an overhead track and did inverted loops. I even rode that coaster at night!
But, in front of me was...not the Great Bear...not Magnum XL. But, her...Millennium Force, with her blue dress and dazzling speed.
As we edged closer to the coaster...I quit! Yep, you read that correctly. This grown man, who had anticipated Millennium Force for months, quit. This man, who had ridden many other coasters and was considered a roller coaster veteran...quit.
I was intimidated by this coaster. Young kids were riding this thing, for crying out loud! But, not me. I quit. I didn't go to get a drink of water. I flat out quit. I was intimidated by a 310 foot tall, steel roller coaster with blue paint. I had ridden Magnum XL, the red baron, with its' flashy red and white color. What happened?
Fear gripped me. Fear caused me to miss out on the thrill of a lifetime. Fear kept me from enjoying that exciting ride with my daughter, as she remained in line and rode that coaster. Fear made me cower when my family asked..."how was the ride?"
It's only a four letter word...f-e-a-r, but the word "fear" has destroyed and paralyzed nations. It has kept businesses from moving. It has kept people from their destinies. Fear crucified the Son of God. It's always lurking...always in the shadows. I have experienced staring fear in the face.
I've seen what fear has done to me. As we take this journey, my desire and calling is to help you overcome fear as well and to move out in faith. No matter, whether you are starting a business, a new course of study, entering a new relationship, building your finances or moving to a new location, fear will always be there...looming...smirking...waiting for the opportunity to strike.

You don't have to give in to fear. You can defeat it and run right over it on the road to faith. Fear will always be smirking at you. It will always be standing in the shadows as you take your journey to faith. I ask that you allow me to take this journey in overcoming fear with you. There are many pot holes and detours to navigate. We'll navigate them together.
On the journey to faith, we'll discover the five roots of fear:
1. Intimidation
2. Lower Level Focus
3. Self Preservation
4. Unholy Agreements
5. Helplessness
As with any tree, the tree of fear must be attacked at the roots. Dealing with the leaves, the symptoms, won't be enough. You must attack those five roots. Allow me to help you. As we go.......we'll conquer fear and move on to faith.
